svobi has a good suggestion, if you determine that your system is indeed hanging on
the the video driver. Use Steven Levine's suggestions for isolating the problem. If you
determine that it's the video driver, reboot your system and press ALT-F1, when the
white rectangle appears during the bootup (I assume that ECS boots just like OS/2 in
this regard). When boots to the recovery selection choice screen, select the VGA
mode option. You will have to reinstall your video driver later, after you solve the
problem
