Hi Svobi,

Jeff said that one of the diskettes was bootable.

Zipping the floppy to a .zip file won't save the Master Boot Record, and
unzipping the files from the .zip file back to a floppy thus won't
restore the Master Boot Record.

The Master Boot Record _can_ be restored easily from a system utility
which can be placed on the diskette. So it appears you are correct and
.zip files could be used, but when you mention this to someone be sure
they understand that the restored floppy isn't bootable until the Master
Boot Record is recreated.

Also, I think Jeff wants a robust solution. If his main system fails,
he won't be able to boot to it and thus can't recreate the floppies from
the .zip files nor can he run the system utility on the newly created
floppy to recreate the Master Boot Record and make the floppy bootable.

Want my suggestion? Travel with two sets of duplicate floppies. :)
