I agree that it is an advantage but messaging to AIM users was what I (or at
least the primary users) need. I can't tell for sure if I get them set up for
ICQ whether they'll get access to their friends. I worried about getting too
locked in to AIM if they loose their interest in their Java client (as they
kinda did once before).

I don't either. I think I'm just going to try to set them up with ICQ and see
if one of their AIM friends can get through. If not, AIMExpress may be the only
remaining option.
