Actually it's more likely that 4.61 is ancient in Internet years.

It's easy enough to test this theory. Move the NS java plugin out of the
plugins directory, restart NS and see if the page still fails the same
way.

Really? That would mean you have a working v1.3.0 install in \JAVA13.

That's the multimedia plugin pak and has absolutely nothing to do with
Java. :-)

1.3.1 yes. 1.4 no.

I tried copying some of the dll's from Mozilla

That makes sense. The plugin DLLs are specific to the browser. In
\JAVA131\NS you will find plugin.exe. This is the correct plugin
installer for NS. It's a SFX, so copy it to a work directory and run it
to unzip the content. Then install as directed by the readme.
