OK! After you replaced the 20GB drive with the 40GB your situation was
as follows:

Drive 1 = 7.5GB
Drive 2 = 40GB
Drive 3 = 75GB

Right? Did you fdisk the "new" drive 2 (40GB) such that there was no
change in the partition lettering and partition types. That is, did you
create the same number and same type of partitions on the new Drive 2,
as was on the old? Since the drive is bigger, the partitions will be
bigger, but they should be the same number and same type to not confuse
your system. That is, you have certain applications installed on certain
partitions and certain system and dll files referenced in certain
partitions. You do not want to upset the system in recognizing and using
these files and programs.

After you did that, exactly how did you restore the files and folders
(that were on the previous drive 2) to the new drive 2?

I would say that if you simply replaced drive 2 with a newer drive 2 (as
your first step) and partitioned it the same as the old drive 2 (same
number and type of partitions) and if you properly restored the files
and folders, then you should not have any problems for this first step.

If, however, you boot up and your system wants to go through a CHKDSK
then I would say that either:
1.) You did not recreate the same number and type of partitions on the
new
drive

2.) Or, you did not format the partitions the same as on the old drive

3.) Or, your restore of files and folders is faulty

Sorry, but that's all I can offer now. I've got to go to work.

Good luck!
HCM
