This is a repost of a query from a week or so. The problem seems to be
getting worse--the freeze occurs more frequently now. I've reinstalled
MR2I. Sometime Mozilla also freezes if it is opened from MR2I. The
system seems stable otherwise. Where do I look for the cause of this
problem? By the time I've rebooted 2 or 3 times just getting through the
mail, the evening is gone.
After a several happy weeks with MR2I v 2.35, it has been freezing the
system requiring a hard reset. The freeze always occurs while scrolling
through the text of an open email message or composing a msg--the mouse
cursor still moves, but the keyboard and mouse buttons are dead;
ctrl-alt-del has no effect. On rebooting chkdsk sometimes fixes an
allocation error in mr2i.log, but mostly finds nothing to fix. The log
is empty. I've run unimaint, checkini and cleanini repeatedly until
nothing is found to repair, and installed all the latest updates--kernal,
TCP/IP, JFS--all the fixes applied by the fixtool. The system is dual CPU
but I've used execmode to set all the MR2 exes and dlls lto single
processor operation. How can I track down the cause of this problem?
Thanks,
Ben A
