They are aggressively trying to upgrade us to their new, "enhanced" SBC-Yahoo account. No
price increase, but various new services and features included. The claim is that no
connection details need to change (e.g. -- if you have a fixed IP now, you still would),
although a lot of the new features are dependent on proprietary s/w, which ain't gonna
include us, naturally. You don't *have to* use it, though, they say.
I just wanted to make sure there were no hidden gotchas, waiting for us in the alley,
before accepting that offer. Peter pointed out to me that one is free to use the Pac Bell
DSL line with _another_ ISP. Yeah, but you're paying for *this* one anyway, so might as
well use it. And we're stuck with their mail servers, unless you do as Peter does and
run your own. I don't have a dedicated, always-on machine I can assign to that task,
however.
