Hello,

I desperately need help, if anyone can! I'm trying to install a LAN on
my computer, using the "Selective Install for Networking". It involves 2
automatic reboots from that program. After I configure the LAN and click
OK, the computer reboots. When it comes back up, it tries to complete
the install. However, after about 5 seconds, I get an error message. If
I expand the message, it says as follows:

System Error - (Unknown Title) Session identifier=025
SYS3175

A program generated an access violation at 00065253
PEERINST.PGM 0005:00005253
P1=00000008 P2=00004150 P3=XXXXXXXX P4=XXXXXXXX

SS:ESP=03bf:000039a2 SSACC=00f3 SSLIM=00003fff
EBP=007839b2 FLG=00012212

After clicking the option to end the program, the install program
nevertheless "apparently" continues installing and copying the "File and
Print Share" files. Then the next reboot occurs. After the computer
comes back, after processing some lock files from the CONFIG.SYS, I find
that the LAN and networking has NOT been installed.

I am aware of the software bug with the selective install, whereby all
the lines in the CONFIG.SYS after be less than 256 characters long. The
4 lines in my CONFIG.SYS are of issue are the LIBPATH, SET PATH, SET
DPATH and SET HELP statements. I've used at least 2 different ways to
reduce these lines below 256 characters. And I am "successful" in doing
so. That is, the computer reboots on the edited CONFIG.SYS with no
problems. However, it does not appear to matter. When I then try to use
the selective install configuration, it still fails on the next reboot
(the first reboot after entering the selective install).

I've tried several different ways to edit the CONFIG.SYS. I've tried to
install NetBIOS. I've tried to install NetBIOS over TCPIP, instead. I've
started over from my 2 day old backup at least 5 or 6 times now (I've
been trying to install the networking for the past 2 days).

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance for your help!

HCM
