Well, I think I am getting the hang of it. This time
rather than complicate the matter I am sticking with
eCS 1.0 and connecting to my ISP through the
Placentia phone line. As before, I set up the
command prompt to: \mptn\bin\iptrace (but
did not press return). Next I went to the
mail newsgroups window. To recap:
In 1.0 when I press on news.verizon.net I DO get
a list of the newsgroups that I follow. However, when
my connection is with the Fullerton or Placentia, I
cannot access any one newsgroup.
So as soon as I pressed the news.verizon.net and
the list of newsgroups appears, I go to the command
prompt window and press enter. Then I wait until
I get the message (There was no response.....)
At that point I went again to the command prompt
and pressed enter. Here is a listing of the contents
of the command window:
[G:\mptn\bin]iptrace
lo: tracing enabled
ppp0: tracing enabled
ppp0:[ 0.000]: process_pkt: len=33, type=24
ppp0:[ 14.203]: process_pkt: len=53, type=24
ppp0:[ 15.797]: process_pkt: len=33, type=24
ppp0:[ 30.000]: process_pkt: len=33, type=24
lo: tracing disabled
ppp0: tracing disabled
the ip trace taken
[G:\mptn\bin]ipformat >iptrace.txt
[G:\mptn\bin]
