On 2/13, Mark Abramowitz replied to me, with suggested procedures re
how to munge one's address to avoid spambot harvesters in Newsgroups:

I haven't revisited any newsgroups (at least with a post) since then, which
accounts for the delay in replying. Your NS 4.61 procedure -- haven't tried
the Mozilla one yet -- does work for both Mail & News, but here's the caveat.
They use a shared setting. You have to change the operative setting before you
post, and then change it back when you are done. Why ? At least on my ISPs,
the Mail Server will then refuse any further contact from you, as when you Get
New Mail, or quit NS and later come back. Your Password still matches, but
your User-ID no longer does.

I'm guessing the "REMOVEME" has something to do with automated opt-outs ?

Just did, or halfway. I have yet to do any mail or news in Mozilla, though I will
try it out in due course. Unless Mozilla provides for bifurcation of the Identity
setting, as between Mail and News, I expect it will be the same story.
