Well, I tried the telnet approach on the following:
newscache1.freenet.de (Posting not allowed)
news.cox.net (Permission denied)
Then, since I am on the El Monte phone line to
verizon I tried to send the message that I listed
yesterday (another what if?). It apparently went
thru but that does not resolve the problem with
phone lines to Fullerton or Placentia.
Anyway, thanks Steve and Peter for your help.
I have a feeling that this is not over yet.
