If you are responding to someone asking for help who
may not be a member of this list, be sure to use the
REPLY TO ALL feature of your email program.

I just built a computer using ECS's K7S5A that Daniella said she was
impressed with. Fry's still advertises them (with different AMD
Athalons - mine is the 2000+ version). It works fine, including
on-board NIC, under eCS 1.0 using dhcp. The only difficulty I am having
is getting dhcp to start under eCS 1.1 (so I'm back to 1.0). From what
I have seen on the OS/2 Hardware mailing list it is possible I happened
to get two bad CDs from Mensys.

I might point out that the on-board NIC on my machine is an SIS900.
When I was looking for drivers I discovered ECS fits one of four NICs on
these boards. IIRC, OS/2 drivers are available for three of them. Take
a look at their site so you are prepared. In the case of the SIS900 the
OS/2 driver is in the Windows distribution. FWIW, I used the PCI
sniffer (from the eCS site) to discover which NIC my board had.

One last comment. I don't play with sound so I don't know about sound
drivers for the on-board sound chips. In fact I don't even know what
who makes the chips.

So far I'm pleased (1 month) except for the dhcp issue. When that gets
resolved I'm back to v1.1.
