Thanks, Steven,

>Can I assume the CD boot will not work on the 760?
Right. There's no way to boot from the CD on a TP760 (AFAIK).

>>I get to the point of adding the NIC driver, specifying protocols etc.
>>then get the msg, "while executing ?:\ecs\install\rsp\phase1.cmd

>Most of the good stuff in in \var\log.

I explored both the install partition and the ramdisk. There are entries,
but very few.

>>it. Neither can I find the Mensys manual which, I gather, describes

>The manual is a PDF file. It's probably on CD#2. So's the readme.

I've studied the readmes and FAQs, but there is not pdf of a manual on any
of the 3 CDs.

>You need to find the logs.

Here's ECSINST.LOG----------------

>Also a hint on how the drive is partitioned might help.

Installing on C drive, 1 Gb fresh, full fomat HPFS, three other
partitions, all JFS (had ecs 1.0 on C before, no problem installing
then)--6Gb HD with BM at the start (left over from ecs1.0), 80 Mb RAM

I recall your advice that repeating the same thing over and over when it
doesn't work is not smart, but I repeated it just to get the logs. The
process stopped at the same place with the same error.

The error msg in dialog box is:
"while executing ?:\ecs\install\rsp\phase1.cmd 2>&1>?:\var\log\phase1."

Gotta get some sleep so I can do my day job.

Thanks, Ben
