I have not tried an 8MB cache IDE drive with W4, but since it
is a hardware cache, it is (should be) OS independent.

My 36GB 10Krpm SCSI drive, intended for a new eCS 1.1 installation
soon, has a 4KB cache and I anticipate no cache issues during
installation. All I can say is that I do indeed wish for a
larger software (HPFS) cache, now that memory has become so inexpensive.

It is possible to add HPFS 386 a W4 system, but I have not tried it.
I don't know how it would react to/coexist with the new LVM. Perhaps
this is an opportunity to go to JFS for all but booting (JFS is not
yet bootable).

Perhaps Steven Levine has some insight on this issue.
