Correct. Files on a CD are alway marked read-only and, by default, the
attribute is retained when the file is copied.

It's on the 2nd page of the files tab. Click the plus sign at the upper
right edge of the notebook page. This is a standard WPS feature. Tabs
with multiple subpages are numbered unless there is an implementation
error.

It will still take a lot of time with the properties notebook. I suggest
you learn to use a better command line shell, such as 4OS2 or learn to use
a more capable GUI file manager, such as FM/2. There's even vary capable
text mode file managers, such as FMT and ZtBold. Compared to your current
tools, all do a a better job of handling large numbers of files with a
couple of key strokes or mouse clicks. For example: 4os2 would allow you
to clear the read-only attributes in the entire subtree with:

attrib /a:r /s -r *
