I use:

groff115.zip 1569014 GNU groff 1.15

It's at leo. FWIW, if you are having trouble using leo's search interface
why don't you just download the master file list and search that with EPM?

>"GNU grep" (I only have Graham's),

At the risk of being a bit repetitive, it's a leo too:

gnugrep.zip 180273 GNU [ef]grep 2.0

Graham's might be OK too.

gzip and bzip2.

gzip and bzip2 are optional. Like the readme says:

"If you have installed `gzip' and `bzip2', you can view compressed
manpages"

I'll let you guess where to get them from.

>These are the "Required Executables" and I presume man calls them for
>various functions.

Most are optional, but, yes, I should hope that man will use them if they
are installed.

>Darn, why didn't I think of that? Okay, I'll set aside my Japanese For
>Dummies book.

Like I suspected, distracted by the details.

>Uh oh, I need to go find and install gzip.

I did that after I read the readme and before I starting installing
anything. I hate to have to leave the kitchen in the middle of preparing
a meal. Things tend to burn.

>All 10 help pages worth. :)))

I guess it's working. less uses less to display it's help pages.

You just want to make it hard on yourself. Try changing man.cnf to
man.conf

>And yes, man.cnf is in H:\emx\etc\

Are you sure? The install default is man.conf.

>[Lurkers: emx requires / not \, although sometimes \ works.]

Lurkers: I can duplicate the warning message by pointing MAN_CONF to a
non-existant file. I can also rename man.conf to man.cnf and update
MAN_CONF to match and there is no warning message.

>Don't know why.

Perhaps for the same reason. A typo causes sendmail to fallback to a
hardcoded default.
