Steven,
There was no mention of a self test when I talked to Lexmark help the
first time--only the instructions to disconnect the cable from the pc and
the power, to hold down the paper feed button and plug the power in again.
I did this and the printer printed the nozzle clean page. It printed a
band of each of the three colors but no black band. He said the cartridge
was bad.
When I installed a new black cartridge, I did this again with the same
results. So I called Lexmark help again and told the "expert" what
happened. When he asked me what OS I was running, I told him Warp 4, went
off the phone with me (probably to talk to his supervisor) and said
Lexmark did not support it, but to try reinstalling the drivers and the
test again. If it did not work, he said the cartridge was probably bad.
Is it possible that Walmart received a batch of bad cartridges and my
store received two of them? I had this problem some time back. Lexmark
sent me a new cartridge.
