I read recently that a manufacturer recommended
operating the drive at least once a year. Manufacturer
would have been either IBM or Seagate, as that's what
I've bought recently, mostly IBM (strong preference).
Too bad they're getting out of the disk drive business.
Fujitsu claims to have a stiction-free slider (head assembly).
