Nothing bad as long as you don't let fdisk change anything. You will
probably have to use the updated install diskettes given the drive size
etc.

Since you get a failure just by moving the cursor in BM, there's something
very bad going on. The BIOS can read the drive or you would not get BM on
the screen. The code in the MBR can read the drive or BM would not come
up at all. If I have my facts straight, it's still unknown if the BM code
is damaged or if the problem is bad hardware.
