Subject: SCOUG-Help: New DynDNS Frontend on Hobbes

Content Type: text/plain

=====================================================

During the past week DynDNS was discussed as a way to use
your DHCP connection for servers (or let somebody hack int
your system).

A new DynDNS Frontend was just uploaded to Hobbes this
morning. As near as I can figure it's a control window
that runs an underlying program called DDUP. You can
get the new DynDNS Frontend at:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dyndns.txt
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dyndns.zip

>From the above .txt file:

Short Description: DynDNS Update 3.0.1 (DDUP) Frontend V3.0
Long Description: DynDNS V3.2; GUI for DDUP 3.0.1;
Supports all well-known ddup attitudes.
Up to 10 of host can be configured.
Additional requirements: DDUP 3.0.1 and a DynDNS Account
at www.dyndns.org

The .zip is 437 KB. Here is its content:

Length EAs Date Time Name
------- --- ---- ---- ----
368219 0 05-10-03 09:45 ddup_frontend.exe
1478 0 05-10-03 09:52 readme.eng
126539 0 05-10-03 09:48 dyndns_src.zip
1026 0 07-19-02 19:13 dyndns.txt
15110 0 10-27-02 05:59 gpl.txt

The above DynDNS Frontend *requires* DDUP 3.0.1.
There are either two or three different versions
of DDUP 3.0.1 on Hobbes. See:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/dynip/ 74 KB
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/util/ 44 KB
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/network/tcpip/ 44 KB

The last two appear to be identical. The first one is
somewhat larger and claims to include "NIC 2.0 support".

I've appended the content listings for both of these
DDUP archives so you can see what they include.
