My DirecTV DSL service went bye-bye, and I had to switch, too. Too bad,
the service was reliable, fast and economical. I had a single IP address,
too.
I went with the company that bought my ISP, Relaypoint. It's called West
Coast Internet. Apparently they're just a reseller of PacBel DSL, but at
least they gave me a static IP address, and didn't tell me that Windows
was required (in fact, told me that Windows was specifically not
required). I'm paying more for half or less the throughput that DirecTV
DSL gave me, but I found that most others had similar rates.
