Subject: SCOUG-Help: chkini results and questions

=====================================================
If you are responding to someone asking for help who
may not be a member of this list, be sure to use the
REPLY TO ALL feature of your email program.
=====================================================

I reset the desktop after running Unimaint and ran chkini. Unimaint did a
great job; only had 12 items to repair according to chkini.

Most were obvious. An Ezirc folder that pointed to another folder that
pointed to the correct desktop folder and one handle to the Ezirc.exe and
the manual in each folder. A folder that was not in a registered class.
Two handles to ZTBOLD, a handle to a non-existent file.

Some recommended repairs stumped me:

=================================================
PM_Abstract:Objects & PM_Abstract:FldrContents
=================================================
Folder c;\desktop\programs\applications Object 2d9b3 Class SCShadow
Character map IS NOT USED BY WARPCENTER

Drives shows that the folder is empty. Why the phrase " is not used by
warpcenter"?

=================================================
Checking PM_Workplace:Startup
=================================================
PM_Workplace:Startup:C33B points to 3C33B -
C:\OS2\ARCHIVES\0X\DESKTOP\OS!2 SYSTEM\STARTUP
C:\OS2\ARCHIVES\0X\DESKTOP\OS!2 SYSTEM\STARTUP is an ARCHIVED folder

PM_Workplace:Startup:5172 points to 35172 -
C:\OS2\ARCHIVES\01\DESKTOP\OS!2 SYSTEM\STARTUP
C:\OS2\ARCHIVES\01\DESKTOP\OS!2 SYSTEM\STARTUP is an ARCHIVED folder

Why delete an archived startup folder in an archive?

=================================================
Checking PM_Workplace:Location
=================================================
points to 31891 - C:\DESKTOP\RSJ CD WRITER
OBJECT (C:\DESKTOP\RSJ CD WRITER) CLAIMS TO HAVE NO ID!

points to 379D7 - C:\DESKTOP\BACK AGAIN!2000 ^ WORKSTATION
OBJECT (C:\DESKTOP\BACK AGAIN!2000 ^ WORKSTATION) CLAIMS TO HAVE
NO ID!

Is the id what this object points to?

I removed the emergency desktops and desktops containing the os2 system
folder only by moving the desktops to a floppy. Kelder says this does not
remove the os/2 system folders; they just have no desktop folders.

But why did chkini not find these folders (and any in the emergency
desktops) and suggest that they should be repaired.

TIA for any comments on my questions.

Jack
