Subject: SCOUG-Help: config.x, config.sys questions

After Steven told me I could replace config.x in c:\os2\boot with my
current config.sys, I got curious about the config.x and config.sys ffiles
on my four os/2emergency boot diskettes and on the two bootos2 diskettes
that enable me to recover files from a: with the BA2K programs on the
third diskette.

On diskette 0 of the four boot diskettes, there is config.x, 595 bytes,
6/14/96. On diskette 1 of the four boot diskettes, there is config.sys,
1392 bytes, 8/12/96 and .add, .snp, and .flt files with names that appear
to be CD-rom drives. On diskette 2 there is a file a:\os2\cdrom.dmd,
32,152 bytes, 5/23/00 but no equivalent to the statement "device=
c:\os2\boot\os2cdrom.dmd /q" in my *current* config.sys appears on any
diskette. The section of my *current* config.sys which sets up my Plextor
cd-rw drive and dania's back door to the cd-rom drive is missing from all
config files on the diskettes.

Can I replace the config.sys with my current file? Should I? Or did I
not provide essential information?

On the *bootos2* diskette 1 there is a:\config.sys, 675 bytes, 4/10/03.

On diskette 2 there is a file a:\os2\cdrom.dmd, 32,152 bytes, 5/23/00 but
no equivalent to the statement "device= c:\os2\boot\os2cdrom.dmd /q" in my
*current* config.sys appears on either diskette. There are no .add, .flt,
or .snp files on either diskette. The Plextor and dania stuff do not
appear on either diskette.

The cdrom.dmd, os2cdrom.dmd and other files I could not find on diskettes
1 and 2 do not appear of diskette 3 which is inserted to restore with
BA2K. I have restored backups successfully from CD's.

Can I replace the config. on these bootos2 diskettes with my current file?
Should I? Or have I not supplied some essential information?

TAI for the help.

Jack
