Hello All,
I have been trying to install OS/2 ver. 3 on an HP Pavilion. I have created
an updated install disk 1 with the new drivers so that it will work with the
larger size hard drive. Everything goes great with the install until the
program requests install disk 1 again. When I put in the modified disk 1 I
get an error that a file cannot be found. When I look at the install log it
says SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified. It also says Copy
Error An error occured when system installation tried to copy a file. But,
it doesn't tell me which file is missing or can't be copied.
It may be because of the way I modified disk 1. I used a disk image utility
to copy the original disk 1. I then injected the updated drivers,
IBM1S506.ADD, OS2DASD.DMD and IBMDECD.FLT per the readme that came with the
idedasd file that I downloaded from the IBM ftp site. But, in order for the
new drivers to fit in the image I had to delete the drivers with the IBM2
prefix. I also updated the CONFIG.SYS file with the SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1
statement. I also deleted the BASEDEV statements which referred to the IBM2
drivers. Would that have been the correct way to do this?
I am really at a loss here. By the way I am installing from diskettes not
CD-ROM. Is there a way I can update the drivers on the disk 1 without
deleting anything?
Any and all help appreciated.
Carl
