The name is tacky. dslextreme's service is excellent.

First, in the past six months or so, yahoo has sent me several "Please
reactivate your Yahoo! Groups account" for undeliverable mail. Also Jan
of dfsee told me that his mail to me bounced several times.

My friend & his family who was about to go with SBC Yahoo's dsl has gone
with dslextreme's dsl for 5 months (?) and I have heard no complaints.

I recently moved, again, and dsl is not yet available here in La Palma
(where I am), using dslextreme's dial-up service. dslextreme switched me
from dsl to dial-up, cheaper rate of course, and will switch me to dsl
when available. The same service representative is helping me on this
matter. A couple of notes: (1) a *new* $60 moving fee for dsl accounts -
now noted on their website; (2) even though dial-up now, I still have the
dsl modem here; (3) Imagine if I had a SBC Yahoo dsl account - would I
have had as easy a time moving my dsl?????; (4) dsl dial-up has been gone
in Harbor City, Torrance, and Costa Mesa but rather lacks (slow) in La
Palma; (5) usenet is satisfactory via dslextreme; (6) no filtering of spam
nor viruses; (7) as deatiled above, some bouncing of email..... :(

Bottom line: I am staying with dslextreme. Do I recommend dslextreme -
yes. Consider having your own domain name wuth someone hosting your
doamin name; that way if you "move" to a new dsl service, the transition
should be easier - I am thinking of doing this.

Again check out dslreports for an informed decison. YMMV. If any other
specific questions on dslextreme, just ask.

Regards.

Larry
