Remember the vintage of what you are working with. The SP files are DOS
programs. Did you install DOS support? Open a DOS session and run sp1253
from the command line and tell us what is really failing.
A general hint for those that don't know it or may have forgotten it.
Starting applications by clicking on the object is really handy until it
does not work. At that time, you will learn a lot by dropping to the
command line and running the app from there. It doesn't even have to be
the correct type of command line for the app. You'll know soon enough if
you need to switch to a DOS command line. Warp will tell you.

Makes sense. Do you understand what sp1253 is trying to do run you run
it? It's trying to format and write a diskette. This is rather difficult
if you are using the diskette drive for something else.

The file is probably good.
You problems sound more like locally generated issues.
