I think this may be a ThinkPad hardware issue. I occasionally manage a key
combination on my elderly TP 380XD that locks up most of the keyboard. A few
times, I have managed to press some combination of keys which unlocks the
keyboard, but I can't tell you what the combination is. Fortunately,
Ctrl+Alt+Del still works. It is, however, something endemic to the hardware --
in my case, at least.
