Re: SCOUG-Help: Re: [Discussion] Need utility to print specimens of UNINSTALLED fonts SOLVED

Peter:

I tried HP Fontsmart Lite on the Windows 98 machine and will
also try it out on my Warp 4 FP 13 machine.

If you installed WinOS2 support, it is likely that it will
simply run. You get to choose how to run windows applications,
either as "seamless" (runs in a window on the OS/2 desktop),
or full screen as if it were a windows machine. I have a
couple of games that run OK seamless, although I don't run
a lot of Win3.1 stuff.

It found my font cache on drive G: and took a while to categorize
around 3200 uninstalled (just warehoused) fonts, but it ran acceptably
on Win98. Since it is a 16-bit application intended for Win3.1,
it runs OK, just a bit slower.

It kinda tickles me to run older, but still capable, win3.1 software
for free on OS/2. The SCOUG Sept. meeting discussed Innotek's
Odin-ified versions of the windows Acrobat 4.05 viewer, running
under OS/2 just fine. Seems like I was the last person on the
planet to hear about it. I'll be trying that out very soon now too.

But first to rebuild my Warp SCSI system with my new-to-me dual
LSILogic Host Adapter and a 10K rpm (hovercraft) drive.
