Lexmark is one of the leading printer manufacturers, although probably a
distant 4th to HP, Epson, and Canon in the inkjet market.
The laser ink cartridges tend to be expensive (you can find refilled
cartidges in the $75 range), but they last a long time compared to inkjet
cartridges. Even 300dpi puts out a very nice graphic in Postscript mode, 600
is excellent, and 1200 ought to be awesome.
You may be able to find a duplexer for that model (I haven't researched it),
which is a great savings on paper and the space to store output.
I've been using an IBM 300dpi 4019 and the follow-on Lexmark 600dpi
4039-10R+ laser for about 8 years, never had a problem with them.
So if you're not concerned about color printing, or if you want a cheaper
alternative for your B & W printing, I wouldn't be afraid to try the Lexmark
Optra.
