That was my first thought, but after some research I don't think this is
the case. I got curious and took a quick look at the code near the trap
location and it does not appear to be font related. However, I need more
info to verify this.

BAIIOM3.DLL is actually the VAC runtime DLL renamed for distribution.
This means that the code that is triggering the trap is elsewhere. What I
need to see is the output of a process dump. This may allow me to find
out what the BA2KWS code is really trying to do.

for a setup guide. I also need to know what Warp version and FP level you
are running.

It not all that unexpected that the older version worked. The code is by
definition different.
