It does, but it depends on the manufacturer providing proper atip data.
As I pointed out in my previous post, your CDs are old (or maybe cheap)
enough that this information was not supplied.
For example, I have stack of 100 CDs that were free (i.e. cheap ) after
rebate and atip reports:
ATIP info from disk:
Indicated writing power: 5
Is not unrestricted
Is not erasable
Disk sub type: Medium Type A, low Beta category (A-) (2)
ATIP start of lead in: -11634 (97:26/66)
ATIP start of lead out: 359849 (79:59/74)
Disk type: Short strategy type (Phthalocyanine or similar) Manuf.
index: 3
Manufacturer: CMC Magnetics Corporation
Like yours they don't report burn speed, but they burn fine at 12x on my
16x drive.
