OK, so that must mean you are ready for more cdrecord commands. 
You should do: 
  set CDR_DEVICE=2,0,0 
then cdrecord will always know where the burner is. 
Next try: 
  cdrecord -inq 
This will tell you the drives capabilities. 
Next put in a blank CD-R and try: 
  cdrecord -atip 
This will tell you the media capabilities. 
Use these above info to adjust the CDR_SPEED value, if needed. 
To do a simple burn of sample.iso, use: 
  cdrecord -vv sample.iso 
-vv means really verbose. 
If you get a good burn, we are ready to move on to building ISOs.
