Interesting.  Maybe it needs a reset to factory defaults or something like

I've got a D-Link, an SMC and a USR.  They are all pretty much the same in  
quality.  It really depends on what the need in the way of specific  
features.  The D-Link DI-604 is pretty basic.  The SMC has the print  
server and the dial backup.  The USR is wireless.
