You write Gary's kernel (14.096e_W4 shall be pretty old ???

Your kernel is elder and the 14.096e is near most accurate !?
Most accurate is 14.097h (ere) ;-)

Before trying to decide if this is a hardware issue, you might want to
try
a different testcase kernel. The one you are running is pretty old.
