I have an adaptec 29160LP adapter and what I think is an adaptec scsi cable
(orange colored with twisted-pair construction, and seems in perfect
condition... I've been using it for about 8 months) attached to a pair of
IBM 9gb u160 10k rpm UltraStar drives (#IC35L009UWD210); they are set up as
addresses #2 and #4, and #2 is the one that started giving me trouble.

More developments since my last post:

I pulled the adaptec card out and reseated the scsi cable, then re-installed
the card. NEITHER drive showed up on the adaptec bios utility program.

Did it again, this time the bios utility program again found the second
drive (address 4) but not the first (address 2), same as before, although it
pauses on address 2 during it's initial search so it seems like it senses
something there... whips right past address 4, which does show up.

Right now I can't boot Warp to try your suggestion about com3. I will try
pulling the modem card out of the machine to see if that helps anything
(just to eliminate it as a possible cause) and post that result before I
call it a day.

Thanks,
Wayne
