I often wonder if these marketing types actually listen to themselves. The
mixed messages would be humorous if they were not so sad.

If the message was that this Java desktop special purpose Java desktop
that it is intended to be basically a smart GUI terminal for special
purpose applications, that would be one thing. A Windows/Mac only
presentation would make sense. However that's not how I read the blurb.

This strikes me a much the same as IBM's initiative to drive Linux to the
desktop within IBM. We shall see what comes of this.

I guess Sun and IBM are again trying to complete with MS for the desktop.
If so, they need to take some lessons from MS on marketing. If nothing
else, the MS message is clear and easy to understand.
