As I mentioned, less might not be quite what you are looking for. -z does
not set the window size, it sets the scrolling rate. This value applies
to commands like ^B and ^F not to filling the first screen.

If you do:

mode co80,15

then you will get a 15 line display. An alternative, which I mentioned
before, is to use:

head -15

but that's only going to slow the first 15 lines.

True. You are misreading the help. Commands are commands. Option
switches are option switches.

You need to read the man page. -y does not mean what you appear to assume
it means.

-z does control the scroll rate. There's something wrong with how you are
testing this. Fill your test file with line numbers so you can see how
much movement there really is.
