Maybe, maybe not. Having run this by Steven and by Larry Martin (the
UNIMAINT developer), I'm thinking it might be worth attempting a
Portable Install procedure on one of my eCS partitions -- but only afterr I
have made partition image backups etc., and overcome a few remaining install
issues. Once I've done that, and cloned the results onto my duplicate HDD,
the risks should be reasonable. The upside of this -- if it works -- would be
to graft the desktop, and the setup for everything I have installed, from my
W4
or my eCS 1.0 partition onto a fresh eCS 1.1 install. I doubt that it will be
quite
that smooth or easy, and I'm sure there would be some necessary adjustments
for
Config.Sys, but the time and effort savings are just too tempting. If I
understand
this UNIMAINT feature correctly, any PATHing differences for app.s at the
Target should get adjusted appropriately by Unimaint when you do this.
