With big interests I am following and listening your discussion, =

especially regarding SIO 2 and Dani's Drivers !

1) I already have SIO 1.6d for many years and especially for my new =

T30 I additionally bought SIO 2.03 but am disappointed about.
It doesn't work as hoped comparing to the elder 1.6d ;-(

1a) Unfortunately another disappointment appears:
Ray does not support or even more worse, absolutely no response ;-((

Does one of you have more info, why Ray is so siltent ???

Point well taken. SIO 2.00, indeed YMMV. I should have refrained from
stating "included without reservation"; But, will I use SIO 2.00 on any
machine - no. I own one copy of Sio 2.03 professional , possibly two
copies, which I am *not* using. I'll bet you a cup of coffee that the
next
released version of eCS will either have SIO 2.03 non-professional
version
or else this driver will not be installed as default.

*Most* installs can use the base eCS 1.1 install; ie the dani driver in
performance mode or apparently SIO 2.00 non-professional version.

Based on the prior failed installs of others, I noted that a number of
these had problems with dani and/or sio. Thus when I had problems with
my
eCS 1.1 install on the ASUS A7N8X motherboard, I focused my attack on
the
failed install on dani and sio. The traps/stalls with sio were
scattered,
not always reproducible but were real. The dani performance error on my
system appeared to occur in the network install portion (early in phase
1).

So if one has problems with a base eCS 1.1 install, I suggest first to
look at dani and sio. As well as check the readme files.

As for installing only Java 1.1.8 without other javas, no IBM
WebBrowser,
VGA install to minimize the extra components in the base eCS install and
IMO would thus apply to everyone. After the eCS base install, (1) add
whatever the *latest* version of java that you desire; (2) install the
latest Mozilla, Firebird browser version (have this available on a CD or
elsewher on your hard drive); (3) install SNAP (shareware) without
having
residual Scitech Display Doctor (SDD) on your hard drive. If no SNAP,
you
could simply install SDD, although I have been told that if installing a
performance OS, and eCS is a performance eCS, install VGA first, then
after a complete install use your latest video driver such as the latest
SDD/se available form Serenity.

To me eCS 1.1 install is significantly different and improved from eCS
1.0; I expect the next verion of eCS will again be significantly
different
and improved all-around.
