(posted in several groups)
Most folks probably read the OS/2 groups and know this, but in case someone has
missed it, there is a yahoo group called OS2_At_Work which is heavily into
working with Xfree86, and the owner is doing great work coming up with a patch
and procedure to make Gimp v1.22 work.
If anyone has an interest or knowledge of Xfree86 and/or Gimp, please join up
and offer what you can. The Gimp process is coming along and could use more
folks willing to test out the fixes and patches in order to arrive at the best
solution. For whatever reason, those who compile and release libraries, plugins,
and Gimp itself have done only half a job, and so Gimp "Out of the box" does not
work beyond v1.02 and has discouraged many users. I have seen enough of this
effort to say that if you have any interest in it, this is the place where the
solution is being found and distributed, so testers and help is needed.
Netlabs/Everblue is not an alternative yet, and only supports v1.02 so this is
the only hope at the moment for GimpOS2
Anyway, nuff said. OS/2 needs all the support it can get, and Xfree86 opens up a
lot of applications for us.
Thanks for the space.
John
