I think you may be correct (although the problems extend well beyond him). We
still see flashes of what the vintage GP could do, but not enough of them. His
attitude does seem to be poor. On the flip side, consider what Karl Malone has
been showing us, which goes above & beyond what anyone expected, not just in
terms of his play this season but in terms of his overall vibe for the team.
He has displayed the class, the quiet leadership by example, amidst all the
tumult. If there is any glue holding the Lake show together this season, it is
him. And I can recall the groans, the disbelief, and the scoffing, on the
part of the fans, when it was first announced that this long-term Lakers'
nemesis would be joining the team for the '04 season. Go figure.

I hope you have some secret insight -- or at least a strong premonition -- that
has been eluding many of us.
