Thanks, yes.  While most of us use "font" as a universal descriptor,  
it's actually "face" plus point size plus boldness and italicness that  
defines a "font".  
 
Times Roman is a "face".  11 point semi-bold Times Roman is a "font".  
 
If you go in the other direction you have Unicode  
(http://www.unicode.org/).  Unicode defines the characters.  An artist  
then takes the characters and creates a "look" called a face.  The face  
is then adapted for all the different required "fonts".
