Thanks again for the help. It seems I have learned how to use trace again. It is different from my experiences of years ago.

I'm not sure what the output means. I got a formatter report which is attached without really doing anything other than executing "trcinit filetrc.cfg" .

It seems my initial effort to use the IBMWORKS database manager to extract the data from the APPOINTMENT application was the real problem. I think the OS just choked and gave a necessary error report but provided an invalid reason.

Rather than exporting the data with the manager, the APPOINTMENT application has an RMB command from the top ribbons I had never discovered. That allows one to export the data I need in comma delimited or dbf formats (they look the same) directly from the app without using the manager.

So consider me done unless the attached output reveals to you some error in my use of TRACE.
