Not always. Ask Peter.

>[G:\java142\bin]java -version

>Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2-b28) Java
>HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-b28, mixed mode)

That's fine. I run the sdk and you just run the jre, so the build numbers
might differ somewhat.

>Now does it make sense to use the command line below to update the
>existing java 1.42_05?

Why bother?

>Sorry I wasn't clear. Open office is not an Innotek product, but the

I still think you are confused. The Open Office build you got almost
surely came from Innotek and includes Innotek code.

>The read me for runtime in
>my G:\innowin folder says it is release 1.12 (Build20) 7/9/04. Is that
>the latest one?

Yes, as far as I know.

>Tony Butka said that the installer for open office 1.1.1 created a

Yes.

>How do you recommend that I proceed?

It will not hurt to do a full install of Open Office. Just run the exe
without switches and follow the prompts.

>Off the subject--when is the next SCOUG meeting and will you be there?

We are almost always the 3rd Saturday of the month. That would be Aug 20
and Sep 17.

>like to meet you and, I hope, Peter Skye and some of the others who have
>helped me over the years.

That would be fun.

Regards,

Steven
