I think there can be some other variables, incl. the
sound chipset that is either built-into your mb or on
your sound card, and what your OS/2 driver supports.
With some combinations (Crystal chipset ?) you did not
get MIDI under OS/2. IIRC, I think this may have been
particularly common if you happened to be using the
UNIAUD drivers. However, there is or was a pkg.
called TIMIDITY that could possibly fill this gap. I
never did enough with Midi to troubleshoot this
myself, but I know of at least one app. that used to
launch with a Midi file playing, and after some H/W
change or another it just no longer played.
