This has to wait for a little while (see below).

On the USB support, your guess seems to be right on the money.
CONFIG.SYS has:
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\USBPRT.SYS
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\USBMOUSE.SYS
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\USBKBD.SYS
DEVICE=C:\ECS\BOOT\USBRESMG.SYS
REM DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\USBCOM.SYS

BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS
REM BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD
REM BASEDEV=USBCDROM.ADD

USBMSD is REMmed out. I assume I would remove the REM.

I found C:\OS2\USBMON.EXE - should I add a RUN or CALL statement to the
CONFIG.SYS?

I don't recall being given choices about USB support in the basic
install. So I don't know why I didn't get full support - I sure got
some things I didn't need, like printer, keyboard and mouse support.
However, I guess I can try the keyboard and mouse that Jerry Rash
provided a couple of meetings back....

Also yesterday, I downloaded (from NETLABS) and installed (using WarpIN)
the FAT32 driver. Today, trying to boot, I saw messages for three
failed statements in CONFIG.SYS (SSMDD.SYS, R0STUB.SYS, and another I'm
not sure of - either MIDI.SYS or VCSHDD.SYS) that I had to "press Enter
to continue", then:
=====
The system detected an internal processing error at
location ##1200:04ba - 0002:04ba.
65535, 9051
FAT32:FSH_FORCENOSWAP on pCacheBase Segment failed, rc=8

09861200
Internal revision 14.100C_W4

The system is stopped. ...
=====
I'm going to revert to the previous CONFIG.SYS, so I can boot. Any idea
what caused this problem? (I see there are FAT32.INF and FAT32.TXT
files in \OS2\BOOK - I haven't looked at them yet, but I shall do so.)
