Thanks much, Steven. That cured the boot-time error.

O.K.

I think so. And then there's the address of the firewall device, and the actual fixed adddress of the router. I have trouble
keeping all this straight sometimes.

Well, ideally, I would like to get to a situation where I could connect the ethernet cable to *either* port at will (the Gigabit
*or* the plain ol' 100 NIC), and have it work. This state of affairs did exist, briefly, in W2K. Not sure why it went away over
there, but maybe the duplicated NIC address had something to do with it. I know that W2K complained about this also, whenever I
tried to set it back that way.
In order to accomplish this, I'm guessing there would need to be some sort of specific Slot assignment (?), even though these
happen to be embedded chips. And / or, maybe a different driver for the Gigabit, such as Genmac ?
It seems unlikely to me that both NICs would be in use at the same time. Only in the case of a home network -- maybe -- and I'm
not sure how that scenario might go.

So far (based on very limited observation) that new 1.2 install appears to be functioning normally . . . except for the fact that
the eCenter bar at the bottom won't appear unless explicity invoked. It *is* present in the Startup folder. I will try to see if
there are any other anomalies.

Now corrected.
