I have seen some traffic on this and other lists, particularly
concerning FAT32-formatted memory sticks, which leads me to
believe that it might be time to update at least the USB
portions of the system. I am running eCS 1.2 on older hardware -
AMD K63-450 with VIA chipset and VIA USB 2.0 expansion card.
I have several "thumb drives" which I plug into a 4 port no-name
usb hub. They have never been reformatted or made into volumes.
I plug my 256 MB Kingston into one port, click on the 'refresh
removable media' object and a new drive letter (E:) appears. The
directory is accessible, with truncated filenames as expected.
Information on the device appears in USB Resource Monitor. So
far so good. I plug my 128 MB Samsung into another port without
removing the Kingston and refresh, and drive "F" appears, but
with the same directory as the Kingston.
Questions:
(1) Does anybody know if Mensys or other vendors sell eCS
updates on CD? I can't do the huge downloads on a dial-up
connection. I didn't see it on their web site.
(2) Related - can one use the eCS MT to selectively only update
USB portions of the system?
TIA,
John Morrow
Templeton, California
