You probably have overlooked:

To have full flexibility you probably want to run configapps (yes, Hobbes)
and use Run!. ConfigApps will set up the associations as so forth. Rich
Walsh's run! acts as a front end and sets the current directory to match
what the Mozilla apps are designed to expect.
