Serenity has announced limited testing of an eCS refresh. See:
http://www.ecomstation.com/readme

From the announcement on VoiceNews:

Once testing is completed, the updated media will be used to fill
orders. Existing 1.2 users will be eligible to download the images at no
cost, or to order a media pack for a cost of materials, handling, and
shipping.

Yes. You can also just d/l the USB updates from ecomstation.com if you
have access. They are small enough that it should be doable via dialup.
